Amazon Pulls Black Children’s Doll From Site After Being Described With ‘Dirty Braid’ Hair

Amazon has pulled a Black children’s doll from its site after its advertiser racially described the doll’s faux mane as “dirty braid” hair.

Earlier today, Amazon was under fire for peddling a product that used “dirty braid” hair to describe the doll’s hairstyle. The 14-inch figurine that bears a brown skin tone included a product description that read, “Doli Yearning 14-inch Adorable Black Doll with Casual Red Skirt and Colored Dirty Braid Fashion Gorgeous Doll for Ages 3+ Interactive Playtime BPA Free Safety Product Well-Designed Collectable Box.”

It’s noted that Doli Yearning is a Chinese company who have been using Amazon to sell their products for less than a year. In addition to the Black doll, the company also sells others, however, several of them depict white girls — with no mention to the color of their skin or style of their. For a white doll with two buns and a curly bang, the description reads, “Doli Yearning 14-inch Adorable Doll with Denim Suit and Colored Headbands Fashion Gorgeous Doll for Ages 3+ Interactive Playtime BPA Free Safety Product Well-Designed Collectable Box.” #Socialites, thoughts?
