A California man turned the tables on an armed home intruder, grabbing his gun and killing him, authorities said.
The incident occurred around 9:10 p.m. Tuesday at a house in the Mount Hope neighborhood of San Diego, the San Diego Union-Tribune reported.
Police Lt. Matt Dobbs said the 62-year-old homeowner returned to find two men waiting for him outside.
One of the men pointed a gun at the resident and demanded his belongings, Dobbs said.
Both suspects entered the home and began rummaging for valuables, he said.
But the resident was able to disarm the gunman, who then charged at him, Dobbs said.
The homeowner fired several times at him, while the other intruder ran off, he said.
When authorities arrived, they found the man with gunshot wounds, Dobbs said.

He was brought to the hospital, where he died, the outlet reported.
Police have only identified him as a 39-year-old man.
They’re still searching for a second suspect, who is described as in his 30s, news station KGTV reported.
Dobbs said they’re investigating whether the resident acted in self-defense.
“We do the investigation and present the facts to the [district attorney] who will opine on whether a valid self-defense claim exists,” Dobbs told the San Diego Union-Tribune.
