On Tuesday, the Texas Department of Public Safety responded to a fatal crash involving an 18-wheeler. Unfortunately, it resulted in hauler driver Steven Stotts passing away.
Stotts was traveling to Phoenix Raceway when this accident occurred. His vehicle reportedly struck a small box trailer towed by a 2020 Honda Passport.
The Honda rolled onto its side and its towed trailer vaulted over a concrete barrier. Stotts’ vehicle, meanwhile, hit a concrete barrier and caught fire.
NASCAR reporter Bob Pockrass had some additional information on this accident.
“Sad news from Texas Highway Patrol. DGR hauler driver Steven Stotts was pronounced dead at the scene. Passengers John Zaverl and Michael Mizzelle are in stable condition. Driver of the other vehicle involved is in stable condition. They were taking ARCA car to Phoenix,” Pockrass tweeted.
Stotts was pronounced dead at the scene, according to multiple reports.
The other driver was taken to Christus Good Shepherd Medical Center and is in stable condition.
Our thoughts are with Stotts’ family and friends during this time.
