The Son of legendary rapper DJ Quik has been arrested and charged with murder in the death of a Downey, Los Angeles man.

According to NBC Los Angeles, David M. Blake Jr., was arrested on May 26 in Porter Ranch in connection with the death of Julio Cardoza.

A day earlier (May 25) , police reported a fight between the two men occurred in the 13200 block of Carfax Avenue. The Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office says Blake also faces an allegation of personal use of a firearm.

The DA’s office says Blake was in a nearby car and allegedly shot and killed Cardoza before driving away from the scene.

33-year-old Cardoza suffered from multiple gunshot wounds and died on May 25 in the hospital.

Blake, 27,  is set for arraignment on Tuesday afternoon (June 7).

Blake was a council liaison to former Compton City Councilman Isaac Galvan, who along with others has been charged with conspiring to commit election fraud during a June 2021 runoff election to ensure his victory.

On May 27, a civil court judge found that four illegal votes were cast for Galvan. A court filing said that his opponent (Andre Spicer) in the race for Compton’s Second Council District was the actual winner.
