Two teens were killed and four other young people gravely injured when bullets flew during a raucous house party in Mississippi early Sunday.
A 16-year-old and 18-year-old succumbed to their injuries at University Medical Center in New Orleans, said Bay St. Louis Police Chief Toby Schwartz in a press release Sunday.
After arriving at the scene around 12:30 a.m., police discovered a half-dozen people between the ages of 15 and 18 suffering from gunshot wounds.
One of the shot survivors is in critical condition, while three others are in serious condition, Schwartz said. All six of the victims suffered gunshot wounds.
Some of the victims were taken to area hospitals by private vehicles before police officers arrived.
Four of the Bay St. Louis victims attended Hancock High School, while two are Bay High students, the Sun Herald reported.
None of the teenagers involved attended Bay High’s prom, which was held during the day Saturday, the outlet reported.
Police have not said how many shots were fired during the deadly incident, but videos circulating on social media and viewed by the local Sun Herald showed multiple gunshots were fired, according to the outlet.
Police arrested Cameron Brand, 19, of Pass Christian on murder and aggravated assault charges in the bloodshed. They believe he was the only shooter. His motive was not immediately known.
On Sunday morning, his charges were upgraded to homicide, Bay St. Louis police said in a press release.

His bond was initially set to $3,000, but Judge Stephen Maggio ordered he be held with no bond after the two teens succumbed to their injuries.
