They were in for a wild ride.
A packed ride at Rye Playland recently malfunctioned, causing it to spin in reverse for 10 minutes.
TikTok video of the harrowing incident on the Music Express shows concerned employees and parkgoers on its perimeter helplessly watching.
Onlookers can be heard shouting things like, “It’s stuck!,” “That’s crazy!,” “This is why you don’t get on these rides!” and “That’s a lawsuit!”
Ride operators at the Westchester amusement park tried to use the emergency stop to halt the machine, but it didn’t work.
Maintenance crews then came to the rescue by disconnecting its power. Once they did, a round of applause could be heard.

After the Monday mishap, Rye Playland’s General Manager Jeff Davis said, “Safety is our number one priority and as such, the Music Express ride is currently closed as we work closely with the manufacturer,” according to News12 Westchester.15
