Elizabeth Francis, recognized as the oldest living American, has passed away at the remarkable age of 115. Born in Louisiana on July 25, 1909, Francis witnessed an incredible span of history, living through two World Wars, the Great Depression, the Civil Rights Movement, and numerous technological advancements. Her longevity and vibrant spirit made her an inspiration to many, particularly in her hometown of Houston, Texas, where she spent much of her life.
Throughout her long life, Francis credited her faith, family, and positive mindset for her longevity. Known for her love of gardening and strong connections with her church and community, she remained mentally sharp and engaged with those around her well into her later years. Her granddaughter, who was one of her primary caregivers, often spoke of Francis’s wisdom, resilience, and grace.
Francis’s passing marks the end of an extraordinary life that spanned over a century of monumental change. She leaves behind a large family that includes grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren, all of whom cherished her as the family matriarch.
