On May 15, 2025, American R&B singer Chris Brown was arrested in Manchester, England, in connection with an alleged assault that took place in February 2023 at Tape nightclub in London’s Mayfair district. The arrest occurred at approximately 2 a.m. at the five-star Lowry Hotel, where Brown was staying ahead of his upcoming “Breezy Bowl XX Tour.”

The incident involves music producer Abe Diaw, who claims that Brown struck him over the head with a Don Julio 1942 tequila bottle and continued to punch and kick him, leading to serious injuries including head lacerations and torn leg ligaments. Diaw filed a $16 million civil lawsuit against Brown in October 2023, alleging lasting physical and emotional trauma.

The Metropolitan Police confirmed the arrest, stating that a 36-year-old man was taken into custody on suspicion of grievous bodily harm related to the 2023 incident. Brown remains in custody as the investigation continues.

This arrest adds to Brown’s history of legal issues, including a 2009 felony assault conviction involving singer Rihanna and a 2017 restraining order obtained by ex-girlfriend Karrueche Tran.

The alleged assault and subsequent arrest may impact Brown’s “Breezy Bowl XX Tour,” which is set to begin in June 2025, celebrating his 20-year music career with performances across the UK, Amsterdam, and the U.S.

As the legal proceedings unfold, further details are expected to emerge regarding the incident and its implications for Brown’s career and upcoming tour.
