On May 16, 2025, the fifth day of Sean “Diddy” Combs’ federal sex trafficking and racketeering trial in New York City, key witness Cassie Ventura concluded her four-day testimony, and singer Dawn Richard began her account of alleged abuse.

Cassie Ventura’s Testimony Concludes

Cassie Ventura, eight and a half months pregnant, completed her testimony detailing a decade-long abusive relationship with Combs. She recounted physical and sexual abuse, including a 2016 assault captured on video and a 2018 rape. Under cross-examination, the defense presented affectionate messages between Ventura and Combs to challenge her credibility. Ventura maintained that these interactions occurred within a context of manipulation and fear. She expressed that she would return the $20 million settlement from a 2023 lawsuit if it meant avoiding the traumatic experiences she endured.

Dawn Richard Testifies

Following Ventura’s testimony, singer Dawn Richard, a former member of Danity Kane, took the stand. Richard described witnessing Combs physically assault Ventura in 2009 over a domestic dispute. She testified that Combs beat Ventura, dragged her by the hair, and later threatened witnesses, stating that people who speak out “can end up missing.”

Trial Developments

The trial, which began on May 12, 2025, is expected to continue for several weeks. Combs faces multiple charges, including sex trafficking and racketeering conspiracy, and has pleaded not guilty. If convicted, he could face a minimum of 15 years to life in prison.

Upcoming testimonies are anticipated from other alleged victims and witnesses, including former staff and male escorts, aiming to establish a pattern of abusive and exploitative behavior by Combs.

The trial has garnered significant public attention, with the courtroom filled with supporters and media. Combs’ family has been present throughout the proceedings, showing solidarity.

As the trial progresses, further details are expected to emerge regarding the allegations against Combs and the testimonies of additional witnesses.
