NFL star Stefon Diggs is making headlines again — but this time, it’s not because of football.
The former New England Patriots wide receiver was found not guilty this week in a highly publicized assault case involving his former live-in private chef, Jamila “Mila” Adams. The case had been surrounded by drama, emotional testimony, and shocking accusations that played out in a Massachusetts courtroom over the last several days.
According to prosecutors, Adams accused Diggs of slapping and choking her during an argument at his home in Dedham, Massachusetts, back in December 2025. She claimed the situation turned physical during a dispute involving money, travel plans, and tensions inside the home where she both lived and worked.
During the trial, Adams testified emotionally about the alleged incident, saying she struggled to breathe after Diggs allegedly placed her in a headlock. However, Diggs’ defense team strongly denied the accusations and argued there was no physical evidence proving an assault happened.
The defense also questioned Adams’ credibility throughout the trial. Witnesses testified they did not see visible injuries after the alleged incident, and video footage shown in court reportedly showed Adams laughing and dancing shortly afterward — something Diggs’ attorneys said conflicted with her claims.
Another major point of controversy involved allegations that Adams had previously sought millions in financial settlements connected to the dispute. Prosecutors acknowledged Adams was not a “perfect witness” but argued jurors should still focus on the alleged power imbalance between the NFL player and his employee.
After only about 90 minutes of deliberation, the jury found Diggs not guilty of both felony strangulation and misdemeanor assault charges. Reports say Diggs became emotional after hearing the verdict.
The case comes during a difficult stretch in Diggs’ career. After one season with the Patriots, the four-time Pro Bowler was released earlier this year and is currently a free agent. Despite the legal drama, many fans are already speculating whether another NFL team will give him another shot.
One thing is clear: this case had social media talking nonstop. Between the allegations, courtroom drama, rumored settlement demands, and Diggs’ celebrity status, the trial quickly became one of the most talked-about sports stories of the week.
What do you think?
Do you believe this court case will affect Stefon Diggs’ NFL future — or will teams move past the controversy now that he’s been found not guilty?
