A 3-year-old soccer player named Nevada has captured attention online after a disagreement at his youth soccer game in Winter Park, Florida, led a league official to call police.
Videos shared by Nevada’s family show the young player dribbling past other children and scoring goals. His parents say he was taken out of games and removed from the league because he was playing too well. But a league official gave police a different account of what led to the dispute.
What Happened at the Game?
Nevada was playing in an i9 Sports youth soccer league when a disagreement arose between his parents and league officials on Saturday, October 24.
His parents say adults had concerns about how much time Nevada spent with the ball and that he was being singled out because of his skills. In the video shared by the family, Nevada’s father questions why police were called during a game involving a 3-year-old.
A league official told police that the parents were causing a disturbance and were upset about their son’s playing time. Police records include both accounts and do not resolve the disagreement over what happened.
What Police and the League Said
The Winter Park Police Department said a league official requested assistance with a dispute involving Nevada’s parents. According to police, the league asked the family to leave and offered to refund the league fees.
Officers described the family as cooperative and said the incident was a civil matter. Police also said no one was arrested, issued a trespass notice or forced to leave the park.
i9 Sports said it had contacted the family and started reviewing the incident, including speaking with those involved.
Support for Nevada
As the story spread, many people shared messages of encouragement for the young player. Former U.S. soccer player Eddie Johnson also plans to mentor Nevada through his Orlando training program, according to Nevada’s mother. She said her son still wants to play soccer, although he is hesitant to return to his former league.
The story has sparked a wider conversation about youth sports, playing time and how adults handle disagreements on the sidelines. As the league reviews what happened, many are hoping Nevada can continue enjoying the game he loves.
