Nearly three decades after Tupac Shakur’s death, the case continues to draw attention from fans seeking answers.
Tupac was shot in a drive-by attack in Las Vegas on September 7, 1996, and died six days later. In 2023, authorities arrested and charged Duane “Keefe D” Davis with murder in connection with the shooting.
Prosecutors alleged that Davis helped organize the attack following a confrontation involving Tupac and Davis’s nephew, Orlando Anderson. Authorities described Davis as a participant in planning the shooting, rather than the alleged gunman. Davis pleaded not guilty.
For many listeners, the case remains about accountability for the death of an artist whose influence on hip-hop endures.
